Mickie Murphy
Mickie has spent her career working in the financial services industry focused on helping Americans retire with dignity by designing retirement plans and consulting on their administration and compliance within government regulations, a complex and rewarding field. Not only has she spent a great deal of time working directly with C-Suite and executives to help meet their business benefits objectives, but she has spoken to audiences on technical topics for years.
In 2023, as Mickie was returning from a directors’ meeting she was in a near-fatal auto accident that resulted in a multitude of reconstructive surgeries, broken bones and amputation at the knee and about six months in hospital and rehabilitation. Several weeks after leaving the hospital, she was on stage as emcee from a wheelchair for a Women in Retirement Conference with her co-chair, talking about the importance of community.
She continued to serve as president of the consulting firm until she recently stepped down and now focuses on speaking to audiences about how keeping a positive outlook with intentionality, embracing change and finding community can give you the ability to be resilient, even through something as significant as losing a leg.
